My sister has completely blossomed at Alliance for Independence! AFI has been a blessing to our family in more ways than one. It gives her a place to go, learn, and socialize while my husband and I are at work. It’s a blessing for me to know that she has a safe place to go during the days that she thoroughly enjoys attending. She loves her friends and her teachers there. She enjoys the day trips and activities and has gotten involved in the CARE Club. We highly recommend AFI to everyone!

The Alliance for Independence has been a godsend for our daughter. There are times she elects not to go to some of the other community activities in which she participates, but that is never the case with AFI. She is up and ready to go and seems eager to interact with her peers and the dedicated staff. As soon as she gets in the car at the close of the day, she relays what all she experienced.

The facility is excellent and consistently evolving, particularly the kitchen and skills hub/apartment in which attendees practice independent living skills. Joann particularly enjoys her work on the computer and it has been our pleasure to observe her skills improving. The rotation among staff and classes is unique among ADTs and keeps her and her friends ever engaged.

The program, curriculum, staff, community opportunities, special events, location and facility, leadership and board are all recommended without reservation.

There are many benefits my sons experience from attending AFI. First, the daily socialization from being around other clients. They have developed many friendships at this program. They have opportunities to attend various field trips within their community. AFI provides scheduled times for dances, holiday parties, and fellowship.

Next, attending AFI has given my sons ways to learn and practice valuable life skills. For example, they learn home life practices, the importance of daily exercise and healthy eating habits.

Then, my sons have grown academically from attending AFI. Lessons include computers, arts, music, grooming, writing, and appropriate practices to use in public places.

Finally, AFI provides the necessary and valuable time for the caregiver. In addition, my sons have developed independence and personal growth from being away from the caregiver.

In conclusion, AFI is a wonderful and very necessary component to my sons’ daily lives. I’m so very thankful for AFI.

Their personal growth, emotional stability, and educational development—especially through community safety learning, reflect the dedication and professionalism of the AFI team. I am truly grateful for the care they receive and highly recommend AFI to any family seeking a supportive, enriching, and person-centered adult day program.
